Micro-Mark acrylics spray smoothly through an airbrush right out of the bottle, but for fine detail, thin coats, or high-flow applications, thinning is essential. Use the 20ml Airbrush Thinner to customize the flow and performance of your airbrush-ready paints.

  • Designed specifically for thinning water-based acrylics for airbrushing
  • Enhances atomization for smoother, more even spray patterns
  • Maintains color vibrancy while improving flow and reducing tip dry
  • Slows drying slightly to reduce clogging and overspray
  • Made in the USA

Description

Micro-Mark Airbrush Thinner is formulated to work with our acrylic paint line and other water-based hobby paints. It ensures reliable spray performance, even through fine nozzles and at low PSI. This thinner improves atomization, reduces dry-tip buildup, and allows for smoother transitions, perfect for gradients, preshading, or modulation. Use it to adjust paint viscosity depending on the scale, surface, and detailing needs.

Micro-Mark Airbrush Thinner is included in these sets:

How to Use Micro-Mark Airbrush Thinner

  1. Prepare Your Paint
    • Pour paint into a separate mixing cup—never thin directly in the bottle.
    • Add thinner gradually: Start with a 3:1 paint-to-thinner ratio (or adjust as needed).
    • Mix thoroughly with a stir stick or pipette until smooth and lump-free.
  2. Test Spray First
    • Spray on a test surface to check consistency, spray pattern, and coverage.
    • Adjust PSI (typically 15–25) and thinner ratio to suit your nozzle and effect.
  3. Spray Your Model
    • Use sweeping motions and build up in thin layers.
    • The thinner helps eliminate spatter and clogs while improving fine control.
  4. Clean Your Airbrush
    • Rinse with water first, then flush with Airbrush Thinner or Micro-Mark Airbrush Cleaner.
    • Disassemble and clean nozzle if buildup is visible.

Tips for Best Results

• Don’t exceed 1:1 ratio unless aiming for very transparent effects.
• Use with a gravity-feed or dual-action airbrush for maximum control.
• Shake thinner well before use.
• Store thinned paint only short-term to avoid pigment separation.

Micro-Mark Airbrush Thinner is also available in a larger 8 oz size.
